Personalia Date of birth: 27 December 1965. Place of birth: Lucca (Italy). Nationality: Italian. Civil state: married with Luisa Allara. Children: one step-daughter named Lavinia, and one daughter named Athena Livia. (in italian): Modelli di teorie dei Fondamenti della Matematica con proprietà di autoriferimento. The title means: Models of theories for the Foundations of Mathematics with properties of self–reference. Research In the past I worked mainly in the following areas: • formal verification of computer systems, see [B.10]; • generalized theory of computation, see [B.7] and [B.6]. Summary (and motivations): the modal µ-calculus is the extension of modal logic with two operators µ and ν, which give the least and greatest fixpoint of monotone operators on powersets. In this way, we obtain an enormous increase of expressivity with respect to modal logic, and many interesting " global " correctness properties of complex systems (be them hardware, software, etc.) are captured, such as …
